Berea . . . still.

Today we rode . . . 4.27 miles! Yes, 4.27. I didn’t misplace the decimal point.

Why’d we stay in Berea another night? Because we had a really nice, donated hotel waiting for us (Comfort Inn & Suites) and we couldn’t bear the thought of giving it up. So we took today, our THIRD day, as a rest day.

We woke up to a blazing hot tent and sat in the blazing hot sun and made breakfast. After sweating gallons, we spotted the campground shelter and proceeded to move everything there. We did yoga, repacked our bags, and hit the road.

First stop, Walmart. Second stop, Berea College. We sat under a tree and read. And that’s it. Then we got on our bikes and biked 2.13 miles back to the hotel. And that’s really it.

So, tomorrow! Tomorrow, perhaps we will leave Berea!

  1. Oh my! As I read over the blogs to date, I can't help but think about the total lack of touring experience. It's too late now, but I bet you both wish you had done at least a year of weekend tours/multiple day tours (even GOBA) to shake out everything from equipment to camping, to just knowing if living on the biking road is really what you are cut out to enjoy. I hope things get better soon, and you start to smoothly make more progress.

  2. To respond to cgulker - you two will, definitely. These two days will be a joke you two laugh about in a month or two. You're jumping head first into the fire. You're going to get a little burned but you two are tough and smart, you'll pull through.

Now, is there anyway to get these photos bigger? I need the photos, I'm a visual person...

    Smile, always smile!

  3. Oh and one more thing - dump unnecessary baggage. You should know what you need and what you don't in another couple of days. JKM should be branded someplace - Just Keep Moving

  4. If you want to read a true adventure report, check out this web site. It's about two college aged woman who back in 1944 rode from NY to New Orleans. They passed thru Ohio via State Route 42. I've read it twice now, and simply can't believe how they did it. And they traveled light, and with HEAVY bikes! Simply unreal!!! Here is the link:
